The Prairie Area Library System (PALS), one of nine multi-type regional library systems in Illinois, receives general operation funds through a grant from the Illinois State Library, part of offices of Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian, Jesse White. PALS was formed on July 1, 2004 by the merger of the former Heritage Trail, Northern Illinois, and River Bend Library systems.
PALS services to member libraries include communications, consulting, continuous learning, delivery, group purchases and technology services. PALS staff manage PrairieCat, a multi-type automation consortium of 90 online and 111 union listing libraries.
Excellent library service makes a difference in the lives of individuals and improves a community's quality of life. But, excellent library service doesn't just happen. It takes hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment. The goal of the PALS staff and Board is to be a valued partner with our member libraries in this endeavor. Together we’ll continue to improve library service and add value to our communities.
Hours of Operation: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
