Name: Steven Epstein

Library: Kankakee Public Library

PositionType: Public Library Trustee (3 year term)

Summary: I have been a library advocate and trustee of the Kankakee Public Library for over 15 years. In 2007 I was appointed to serve on the Prairie Area Library System Board and would be honored to continue serving in this position. For the past eleven years I have served as the board's Vice-President of the Kankakee Public Library. In 1998, I served on the statewide committee investigating library services for unserved areas of Illinois. In addition to my library experience, I have been actively involved with many other organizations including: The Board of Directors for Options CIL, the Advisory Board for Kankakee School District's Health Clinic (Chairman), the Health Advisory Board for Kankakee Head Start (Chairman), the Kankakee Dental Society (President), and the Board of the Illinois Dental Society. I have served as a mentor for Kankakee High School and the University of Illinois.
I am a retired Dentist of twenty-one years, have a D.D.S. from Howard University, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Illinois. I have used my business sense and straightforward approach to problem solving to help the Kankakee Public Library achieve many of their goals. I like to travel, stay active, and the Fighting Illini.

Name: Marina Spitzer

Library: Julia Hull District Library

Position Type: Public Library Trustee (1 year term)

Summary:
I have served on the Julia Hull Library board for the past 15 years. The first 7 years I served as board secretary and the last 8 years I have served as president. Since the Julia Hull District Library is a combination school and public library, I also chair the joint library committee of the public library and school boards. I served on the former NILS board and was active in the merger process of creating PALS. My library experience goes beyond service as a library trustee. I have also worked in public libraries, in a school library as part of my internship for an LTA certification from the College of DuPage, and continue to volunteer my time for Julia Hull Library programs.

Name: Sharon Guilfoyle

Position Type: School Library (1 year term)

Summary:
I am currently fulfilling the vacancy term of the school library representative board member. I would like to continue to represent school libraries throughout the PALS area. I am especially encouraged by the increase in cooperation and collaboration between the public libraries and the school libraries. Continuing this evolving, sharing linking of the two is vital for our communities. Having 36+ years as a teacher-librarian, I'd like to continue to contribute as a liaison between the two organizations. Thank you for this opportunity.

Name: Debbie Samuelson

Library: Dakota CUSD #201

Position Type: School Library (1 year term)

Summary:
I have been the media specialist in the Dakota School District for the past 25 years. I have also worked for two public libraries, Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, IL and Champaign Public Library and Information Center in Champaign, IL. I also spent three years working as the Storyteller for the former Corn Belt Library System located in Bloomington, IL. I have a Bachelor's degree in Information Science from Illinois State University and a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I have always been interested in libraries and have worked in many different settings and support the cooperative attitude of today's library systems. When it was formerly the Northern Illinois Library System I served on the Library Advisory Committee for a two year term and also on the committee that studied seeking 100% coverage of Illinois with public library service. I was also the Union List representative on the original NilsCatT project. I am truly interested in serving the needs of all libraries within the system setting.

Name: S. Eric Welles

Summary:
After serving three years in the United States Army Intelligence Core, I returned to school where I obtained my Masters in School Library Media Services. I started my career in south central Illinois as a K – 12 District Librarian with membership in the Lewis and Clark Library System. My family and I moved to northern Illinois where I served as the Jr. High School Librarian for eleven years, an U. S. History and Geography teacher. I now am serving as the Rochelle Elementary District Librarian supervising five elementary school libraries. I am eager to bring my years of experience to serve northern Illinois as your school Representative on the PALS board.
