PALS delivery staff will be testing new proposed routes next week on Monday and Tuesday, August 11 and August 12. The delivery routes particularly affected are:
CV Downtown
CV Northeast
RF Southeast
All Shorewood routes

Please be aware that your delivery times may vary significantly from your current "normal" so please let any staff involved with processing delivery know about the potential time change.

We will resume all current delivery schedules and routes on Wednesday, August 13. Once our testing is complete, we will be issuing new final delivery routes to all members and plan to implement the new routes on Monday, September 8.

PALS Begins Delivery to Multi-Branch Member Locations

Beginning the week of November 21, 2005, PALS delivery drivers will deliver to additional branches of member libraries who have a significant volume of materials they loan to other members for resource sharing . The new delivery drop-offs added as of that week will be:
Des Plaines Valley Public Library District, Crest Hill Library (delivery code: CHBB)
Joliet Public Library, Black Road Branch (delivery code: JBBB)
North Suburban Public Library District, Roscoe Branch (delivery code: LP2Y)
Rock Island Public Library, 30/31 Branch (delivery code: RITG)
Rock Island Public Library, Southwest Branch (delivery code: RISG)
Three Rivers Public Library District, Minooka Library (delivery code: TMBB)
If you have materials to route to those libraries, please be sure that any labels/bands are marked to be routed directly to that building with their appropriate delivery code. For libraries that pre-sort materials into boxes or bags, please box or bag these items separately to those libraries. This change has been made to increase efficiency of delivery with these high volume libraries. Thanks for your cooperation!

Create your own custom Delivery Code report for either all PALS member libraries or one of the three delivery hubs. Sort the report by library name, delivery code, LLSAP (shared catalog) Code or OCLC Code. Also, link to more info about the library. Try it now!

New PALS Delivery Procedures Posted

meta-author: Judy Hutchinson
New PALS delivery procedures have been posted. Member libraries are encouraged to review these procedures and to adopt any procedures that are new for their library with the new academic year beginning in September.
The revised procedures are a result of recommendations made by the Delivery Study team, a work group consisting of eight member library representatives and eight library system employees. The Delivery Study Team met this summer to discuss how PALS delivery could be improved. For a report on the committee’s findings and to see who participated on the committee, view the Delivery Study Team's Findings.
PALS staff and the members of the Delivery Study team believe the new procedures will streamline several delivery processes, reduce errors, and improve member satisfaction.
PALS staff has also created a training video series that can be downloaded and may be viewed by using either Real Player or Windows Media Player. This video illustrates the various delivery procedures that PALS members are asked to follow. PALS staff would be happy to provide any interested library with a CD version of the delivery video series if you have trouble downloading or would like to have the CD available for staff training.
System staff gratefully acknowledges the significant input received from the Delivery Study Team.
